Common questions
Start with the worries most first-timers bring up.
Phone weather apps show one symbol for the whole day, and that's useless here. We often have rain in the morning, then sun and brilliant flying by the afternoon: rain at breakfast rarely cancels the whole day, and the region has over 300 flyable days a year. Pilots use MeteoSwiss, and you can check our live 7-day Interlaken forecast.
Weather cancellation guide →Children fly tandem here regularly, often from around 5–6 years old depending on the operator. The 8:30–10:30 morning slot is ideal for kids and nervous first-timers: smooth air, before the thermals build. Operators have age and weight limits, so mention kids when you book.
Can children fly? →There's usually a minimum and a maximum, and both shift with the wind, the pilot and the gear. Heavier passengers often do best in the 11:00–14:30 midday slot, when conditions are strongest. The early 7:15 slot needs a confident runner.
Age and weight guide →Paragliding carries real risk, and Interlaken manages it well: Swiss-trained pilots, tandem gliders shock-tested to 8G, lines checked before every flight, and a reserve parachute on every flight. There has been no tandem paragliding death in Interlaken since 2011.
